INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (May 26, 2018) – In less than 24 hours, Scuderia Corsa, with driver Oriol Serviá, will take the green flag to mark the team’s Indianapolis 500 debut. As a team with accolades that include several sports car victories and championship wins like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship, the addition of participating in the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” adds to the growing legacy of the team.
While Sunday’s 500-mile race will be the highlight of the month’s festivities, the “Month of May” in Indianapolis has been event packed with heritage and tradition leading up to the 102nd running of the event. From four straight days of practice, to an action-packed and dramatic two-day qualifying session last weekend, to a media tour across the country as well as multiple community engagements, the pre-race activities will close with the annual Indy 500 parade in front of an estimated 30,000 in downtown Indianapolis.
For Sunday’s race, the team will head in with a strong wave of momentum. Finishing 11th in Friday’s final practice, the pace of the No. 64 Scuderia Corsa has proven formidable, which over 500 miles means both driver and team have a strong potential to show well.
Driver, Oriol Serviá, on Indianapolis 500
“Well last practice before the race finally happened. It still shows that it’s definitely going to be a challenge to pass people. I don’t think just for us, I think for everyone. But the good news is that I had the best car I had all week, just in time for the race coming up. I couldn’t be happier in a way. The pit stops we did were good, the car felt good and I think we made a definite improvement on how the car behaves. A long race ahead of us and a lot of right choices still to be made, but again, I feel better than any other time at this point so can’t wait! The ‘Month of May” has been a great month and I am proud of sharing the Indy 500 traditions with Scuderia Corsa.”
Scuderia Corsa Team Owner, Giacomo Mattioli, on Indianapolis 500 Debut
“We had a good last session and we are confident in our race set up. We are ready for our first Indy 500! It has been an amazing experience so far. The energy, the excitement and the traditions are truly one of a kind. We can’t wait for race day. I would like to thank Bobby and his entire RLL team for the outstanding job and profound efforts.”
