LAS VEGAS (July 24, 2019) – Scuderia Corsa and Ed Jones take to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio July 28 for the Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio in what is the team’s third to final round of the 2019 NTT IndyCar season.
The No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa Chevrolet comes off a successful weekend in Toronto where Scuderia Corsa scored its top street course qualifying effort of the year. Jones noted that he and the team made advancements usable at courses like Mid-Ohio and aims to see positive results from those takeaways this weekend.
The show put on by IndyCar at Mid-Ohio has long been a standing favorite of IndyCar fans with the track hosting some of the largest crowds seen over the IndyCar season. The 13-turn, 2.258-mile course provides plenty of action with sufficient passing zones and tight corners. Jones can genuinely expect a little of everything from Mid-Ohio as it features flowing turns, tight corners, long straightaways and natural elevation changes.
Mid-Ohio allows Jones to see continued development.
“After Toronto, we had a few positives to take away from qualifying and the race, so obviously we’ll keep moving forward,” Jones said. “We had a good test at Mid-Ohio a few weeks ago, I think that will help us heading into the race weekend. We can start to have a bit more consistency and hopefully take the strong parts we’ve found and put them all together.”
The weekend begins Friday, July 26 with two practice sessions. A final practice session leads three rounds of qualifying Saturday, July 27. Practice and qualifying are aired live on NBC Sports Gold. Race day is Sunday, July 28 with the green flag set to drop at 4:30 p.m. EDT and the broadcast beginning on NBC at 4 p.m. Additional coverage of practice, qualifying and the Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio can be heard with IndyCar Radio.
