LAS VEGAS (April 9, 2019) – The No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa Chevrolet takes to the streets of Long Beach, California for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach April 12-14 making the weekend a home race for Scuderia Corsa as the Mattioli Automotive Group, the parent company of Scuderia Corsa, is the largest Ferrari dealerships network in the world including under its arm Ferrari Beverly Hills, Ferrari Westlake, Ferrari South Bay and Ferrari Silicon Valley.
Driver Ed Jones aims to improve on his 2018 third-place finish while impressing the home crowd in Round Four of the NTT IndyCar series. Jones showcased the skills to compete in the tight confines and high-stress environment of a street circuit at the IndyCar season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida. Now, he will capitalize on the advancements made over the course of the first three rounds to place the No. 20 out front.
The 1.968-mile, 12-turn temporary street circuit is encompassed by a festival like atmosphere with nearly as many race cars as yachts. The scenic Shoreline Drive provides a high-speed straight with cars racing past Marina Park. The back of the circuit weaves around the multiple race paddocks and concert stages. Long Beach has plenty to experience for people of all ages. The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is celebrating 45 years of racing in 2019, making it one of the longest running races on the IndyCar calendar.
A home race coupled with the confidence of a past podium has Jones inspired for the Acura Long Beach Grand Prix.
“I am definitely looking forward to Long Beach,” Jones said. “It’s probably been my best track since joining IndyCar. I finished sixth in my rookie season and third last year. So, it will be great to get back to, in my opinion, the best event outside of the 500. Long Beach always a great atmosphere and it’s one of the tracks I really love. Hopefully, we can have a good run and start to get our season going in a better direction.”
