LAS VEGAS (April 2, 2019) – Scuderia Corsa and driver Ed Jones head to Birmingham, Alabama for the 10th running of the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama Presented by AmFirst as Round Three of the NTT IndyCar series April 5-7.
Jones takes on the fight to become the next race winner of the Indy Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park in his No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa Chevrolet. Round Three provides the opportunity to develop continuity after the last two races established Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s conceivable success. Barber Motorsports Park will be a technical challenge for both car and driver due to topographic changes and a tight racing line. With overtaking opportunities available only to those with patience and skill, Jones will come conditioned for a fight.
For Jones Barber Motorsports Park is an opportunity to settle into the season and push for consistent finishes.
“Barber is quite a different track compared to the first two races,” Jones said. “It’s going to be very technical but a lot smoother than the first two tracks, so a different challenge. There’s been so few winners here in the past. It’s a track that, to get right, is very difficult. We’ll be working hard to see what we can do to become one of those winners.
“The first few races haven’t gone to plan but we’ve shown great potential at both of them. Hopefully, we can work hard to figure out a different approach to make the most of the potential we have. Hope to make a run for the front and have a good race to start to gain some momentum into the next few races.”
The weekend at Barber Motorsports Park begins Friday, April 5 with practice starting in the afternoon. Saturday’s on track action includes a morning practice session followed by qualifying.
