LAS VEGAS (July 9, 2019) – Scuderia Corsa and Ed Jones take the No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa Chevrolet north of the border for the Indy Toronto race July 12-14 on the streets of Canada’s largest city.
Jones has twice raced on the streets of Toronto with the NTT IndyCar series, the series second-longest running street race. The Toronto Indy is a fan favorite for many reasons including being in the heart of a cultural epicenter, and its festival atmosphere bringing something to the table for everyone. Being known as a fan-friendly track brought about the Fan Friday tradition, spectators can donate to Make-A-Wish Canada for free admission Friday, July 12.
Toronto features both tight turns and long straightaways with varying track surfaces. The 11-turn, 1.786-mile Exhibition Place circuit includes 90-degree turns, a long front-stretch and flowing corners to carry speed. Passing is doable, but Jones will have to move with both agility and force to keep ahead of the competition.
For Jones the Toronto Indy is about getting back on track.
“I’m excited for Toronto coming up,” Jones said. “It’s been a nice break and I had a good test day in-between. Hopefully what we learned from the test will apply to the race and we get things working great again. It’s one of my favorite events of the year so I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Toronto Indy weekend kicks off Friday, July 12 with Practice One beginning at 11 a.m. ET followed by Practice Two at 3:15 p.m. Qualifying takes place Saturday, July 13 at 2 p.m. after a final practice session in the morning. Qualifying is aired live on NBC Sports Gold. Race day is Sunday, July 14, with NBCSN coverage beginning at 3 p.m. and the green flag dropping at 3:30 p.m. ET.
